🚨 SCAM ALERT / WARNING TO ALL FOOD BUSINESSES IN OLONGAPO AND NEARBY AREAS! 🚨
To all fellow business owners, please be extra careful when accepting large orders through Facebook Messenger. We want to share our recent experience to help prevent other businesses from going through the same situation.
A Facebook account under the name Marijoyce Belmonte ordered 10 orders of Xiao Long Bao with rice from our business, requesting delivery to the pinned location at the Nike Factory SBMA Old Outlet.
The customer stated that the person receiving the order would pay ₱2,000 in cash, and we would need to send exactly ₱750 in change online.
We explained that we could not accommodate the online transfer because our GCash account was only for receiving payments, and we did not have control over outgoing online transfers. Despite the payment concerns, the order had already been brought to the pinned delivery location.
Unfortunately, the transaction did not proceed as expected, and the customer eventually cancelled the order.
Thankfully, some of the staff at the Nike outlet store bought the food, so our products did not go to waste. We are grateful to them for helping us out. 🙏❤️
However, this incident cost our team time, effort, and resources. The request to send online change in connection with a cash payment, followed by the cancellation after the food had already been delivered, raised serious concerns for our business.
⚠️ A WARNING TO ALL BUSINESS OWNERS:
❗ Be extra cautious with large orders from unverified accounts.
❗ Confirm payment arrangements before preparing and dispatching orders.
❗ Never send online money as change without proper verification and authorization.
❗ Keep screenshots of conversations and records of every transaction.
❗ When something feels suspicious, coordinate with your team before proceeding.
We are sharing this experience to raise awareness and help protect other small businesses. We cannot independently confirm the customer’s intentions, but we believe other business owners should be aware of what happened.
PLEASE BE CAREFUL, EVERYONE. A single cancelled order can mean wasted ingredients, delivery expenses, time, and hard work for a small business.
Please share this post to help spread awareness among fellow business owners. Let’s look out for one another! 🙏
