Trading scams 2026-10-16

Scammer alert in the Austin, TX area. This woman Melissa Ann met me to purchase some clothing through Facebook Marketplace and paid me with counterfeit money. The money didn't feel right but it wasn't until further inspection when I was in my car I noticed. I thankfully got their vehicle information as we were leaving and the church parking lot where we did the exchange has cameras. I've went ahead and filed a police report too since paying with fake money is considered fraud last time I checked. Hoping by sharing this information it will help prevent someone else in the future from experiencing this. Bonus points if it makes its way back to her so she starts trying to be a decent person and make better life choices 😂
