You might have accidentally clicked on a link while browsing on your iPhone or iPad and found that suddenly an awful lot of alarming calendar events show up in your calendar app. The attackers use social engineering techniques to trick you into clicking one of the malicious links in the event descriptions. First of all don't panic and certainly don't tap on any of the links. While the spam in inconvenient, it is quite simple to remove and to avoid getting these unwanted events added to your agenda in the future.
Spam calendars are annoying, but fairly harmless as long as you don't open any of the links that are usually included in the description of the events. Follow these steps to remove unwanted calendars:
Alright, you succesfully deleted the spam calendar. However, you probably want to avoid a similar situation in the future. In the following steps, I will show you how to block websites to add themselves to your agenda without your explicit permission.
1. Sign into iCloud and navigate to Calendar
2. Next, go to Preferences (the gear symbol in the bottom left corner)
3. A popup box will appear. Click on Advanced at the top.
4. In the Invitations section, select Email to your.email@address.com instead of "In-App Notifications"
